GUILFORD WOMEN ROLL TO 11TH STRAIGHT WIN

Box Score

Greensboro, NC (02/09/02) -- Senior guard Erin Beacham (Atlanta, GA/Lovett School) led four Guilford players in double-figure scoring with a game-high 15 points as the host Quakers cruised to an 86-41 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's basketball victory over Randolph-Macon Woman's College Saturday.

The Quakers (19-2, 16-1 ODAC), ranked third in this week's NCAA Division III South region poll, recorded their 11th straight win, their longest since a school-record 14-game streak in 1997-98. Guilford extended its advantage in the season series to 24-1 with its 11th straight victory over the Wildcats (1-21, 0-18 ODAC).

Guilford kept Randolph-Macon Woman's College without a field goal for the first 11:09 of the game and held a 25-3 advantage before freshman forward Vanessa Sufrin (Bedfordshire, England/Lea Manor) scored a two-point basket for the Wildcats. Guilford sophomore A.J. Robertson (Eden, NC/Morehead) scored 11 of her 13 points in the first half as the Quakers opened a 45-15 halftime lead.

Sophomore forward Morgan Greene (Chase City, VA/Bluestone) scored six straight points during a 13-7 Wildcats' run at the start of the second half, which trimmed the visitors' deficit to 52-28 with 15:42 left in the game. Randolph-Macon Woman's College never pulled closer than the 24-point margin the rest of the way.

Robertson and sophomore forward Jennie Keichline (Cary, NC/East Chapel Hill) each finished with 13 points for Guilford. Sophomore guard Nicole McCrory (Charlotte, NC/East Mecklenburg) matched her career high with 10 points, all in the second half, and made a game-high four steals. Freshman forward Lindsey Johnson (Simsbury, CT/Simsbury) scored two points and grabbed a team- and career-high nine rebounds.

Sufrin and sophomore guard Amy Dameron (Fredericksburg, VA/Courtland) paced the Wildcats with eight points apiece. Greene finished with seven points, a game-high 12 rebounds and two blocked shots.

The Quakers visit league-rival Roanoke Tuesday night (2/12) at 7:00. The Wildcats host crosstown rival Lynchburg Tuesday night in a 7:00 ODAC tilt.
