Box Score LEXINGTON, VA -- The Washington and Lee women's basketball team overcame an 11-point halftime deficit to defeat Guilford College, 56-54, in ODAC action on Thursday night at the Warner Center.
The Generals (4-4, 2-3) surged out to a 14-5 lead with 8:47 remaining in the first half, but were held scoreless for the remainder of the half as Guilford (2-4, 0-2) went on a 20-0 run to head into the break with a 25-14 advantage.
The Quakers extended their lead to 13 points at 29-16 with 16:16 remaining, but the Generals slowly chipped away at the lead and a three-point play by junior guard Louisa Feve gave W&L the lead at 41-39 with 6:17 left.
Guilford pulled to within one point at 52-51 with 1:08 remaining, but from there, the Generals went 4-for-4 from the free throw line to ice the game.
Feve finished with 19 points and five rebounds, while freshman forward Kristen Krouchick had 18 points and was 6-for-6 from the charity stripe. Senior guard Bethany Dannelly chipped in with four points, a team-high five assists, and a career-high tying eight rebounds.
Guilford was led by senior forward Courtney Hill, who poured in a game-high 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Junior guard Jennifer King finished with 14 points and 13 rebounds, while freshman center Brittiany Green had eight points and a game-high 15 rebounds.
The Quakers return to action on Saturday (12/11) playing in their home opener against ODAC rival Emory & Henry. The game begins at 4:00 p.m.
