Box Score Greensboro, NC-- Freshman Emily Becher had 12 kills, three service aces and nine digs in Guilford's 3-0 volleyball victory over visiting Randolph-Macon Woman's College Tuesday night. The Quakers ended a six-match losing streak with the 30-18, 30-26, 30-26 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) triumph.
Guilford won the first set convincingly, but had to overcome a 21-13 deficit in the second set, before winning 30-26. Becher had two kills and served the final four points during Guilford's rally.
The Quakers grabbed a 20-10 edge in game three, only to see the Wildcats rally to within 24-22 thanks to Guilford' hitting errors and solid serving by Katie Stewart. Guilford recovered and won the match on a Wildcats' ball-handling error.
In addition to Becher's solid night, Brittani Leathern contributed nine kills on .300 hitting for the Quakers. Kaci Loeffler added six putaways and a team-high 11 digs. Becca Jones also had 11 pickups and added a team-best 31 assists.
Dani Hansen had 33 assists for Randolph-Macon Woman's College. Stewart led all student-athletes with 14 kills and also had three solo blocks. Kelly Chapman chipped in with 11 kills and four digs. Liz Robinson had a game-high 16 digs.
The Quakers are off until an Oct. 26 home match with ODAC-rival Bridgewater. The Wildcats visit Sweet Briar in a league match Friday (10/21) at 4:00 p.m.
