LYNCHBURG, VA (9/27/05) -- The Lynchburg College volleyball team defeated visiting Guilford College 30-22, 30-20, 30-19 Tuesday evening to raise the Hornets' record to over .500 for the first time (9-8) in 2005. Lynchburg improved to 3-2 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) with its third straight win. Guilford fell to 3-8 overall, 0-4 in the ODAC.

      Rookie Becca Jones made a game-high 26 assists and added four kills for the Quakers. Classmate Emily Becher put away a team-high 10 kills and scooped up eight digs. Freshman hitter Megan Tucker had five kills and a club-high 12 digs.

      Sophomore Katie Warlick had 13 kills and nine digs for the Hornets and Sarah Boggess had 10 kills. Dara Sandifer had 22 assists, Ashley Martin posted a team-high 17 digs and Amanda Quinn served four aces.

      Guilford hosts North Carolina Wesleyan Thursday night (9/29) in a nonleague contest at 7:00 p.m.
