Croner Nets 28 in Guilford W. Hoops Win at Emory & Henry

Box Score

Emory, Va. (2/13/07) -- Sophomore Tracey Croner scored a career-high 28 points in Guilford's 81-78 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) win at Emory & Henry Tuesday night. The Quakers' second win in three games improves their record to 9-15 overall, 8-11 in the ODAC. The Wasps fall to 8-16 (4-12 ODAC).

Behind 14 Croner points, Guilford grabbed a 41-31 half-time lead, but the Wasps rallied and grabbed the lead in the second half. The contest featured 14 lead changes and six ties. Emory & Henry took advantage of a rowdy home crowd and Guilford miscues down the stretch, but could not convert a game-tying basket on its final possession.

Alex Lyons, who missed the game's final shot, scored a game-high 29 points for Emory & Henry. Baylie Snyder added 20 points and Samantha Shepard notched a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Croner made 10-of-16 field goals, including three-of-five three-pointers, to match the Quakers' highest point total of the season. Joclyn Terry tallied eight of her 10 points in the second half and helped Guilford pull away from Emory & Henry down the stretch. Dionne Graham added nine points and four assists in the Quakers' fourth-highest scoring game of the year.

Guilford concludes the regular season this Friday night against Randolph-Macon Woman's College at 7:00 p.m. in the Ragan-Brown Field House.
