Box Score Greensboro, N.C. (2/16/07) -- Freshman Ann Seufer scored a game-high 15 points in Guilford College's 61-41 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) basketball win over visiting Randolph-Macon Woman's College Friday night. Seufer drained five three-pointers and set the Quakers' standard for trifectas in a season with 58.
The Wildcats (2-21, 2-17 ODAC) scored the game's first two baskets before Guilford tallied 12 unanswered points, including six on consecutive trifectas by Seufer. The Quakers (10-15, 9-11 ODAC) held Randolph-Macon Woman's College scoreless for the final 11:42 of the first half and carried a 33-8 lead into the locker room. The Wildcats shot three-of-28 (10.7%) from the field in the opening period. Seufer led all scorers at the break with nine points.
The pursuit of milestones provided most of the second-half drama. Seufer broke A.J. Robertson's '04 2003-04 standard of 56 three-pointers with 12:36 left in the game. She added her fifth shot 30 seconds later and concludes the regular season with 58 trifectas. Wildcats' senior Sara Rechnitzer entered the game 10 points shy of the 1,000 career points mark, but struggled in a three-for-18 shooting night to finish with nine points. She has one final chance at the milestone Saturday when Randolph-Macon Woman's College ends its season at Roanoke at 4:30 p.m.
Guilford rookie Joclyn Terry added 10 points, six rebounds and four assists in the Quakers' third win in four games. The hosts enjoyed a 54-34 rebounding advantage, thanks in part to freshman Mariah Neville's game-high 12 caroms. Freshman Alexa Williams and sophomore forward Shevon Hackett added eight boards apiece. Senior Dionne Graham had two steals and moved into a share of sixth place on the Quakers' career thefts chart (171) in her final Ragan-Brown Field House performance.
Freshman Katie Rechnitzer's 10 points led the Wildcats. Senior Lianna Carrera contributed nine points and eight rebounds.
Guilford makes its 16th consecutive ODAC Tournament appearance in Thursday's quarterfinal round in Salem, Va. The league office will release the official tournament pairings after Saturday's final regular-season league games.
