Box Score Greensboro, N.C. (4/24/07) -- Neal McKinney scored twice and passed for two assists to lead Greensboro College's men's lacrosse team past Guilford College, 8-6, at Jamieson Stadium on Tuesday night.
Greensboro College ends the 2007 campaign with a 5-9 record, while the Quakers finish at 3-10. The Pride improved to 13-4 in the all-time men's lacrosse series after the win in the first night game between the Gate City teams.
Back-to-back goals by Todd Bochenek tied the game at 5-5 with 10:28 left in the game. Greensboro's Rob Morgan responded with a goal before Guilford's Manny Sargeant knotted the game for a fourth time with a goal at 5:31. Greensboro closed out the game with goals by Nick Patrone and Chris Duffy. Duffy, who caught a pass from McKinney, iced the game with 23 seconds remaining for the final tally.
Patrone had two goals for the Pride and Mike Foderaro made 11 saves. His counterpart, Andrew Vigne, stopped a season-high 26 shots for the Quakers and helped keep them close. Greensboro doubled-up Guilford, firing 48 shots to 24 for the Quakers.
Andrew Carey opened up scoring in the second half with a man-up goal, following an assist from Jordan Drumheller, giving The Pride its first lead of the game at 3-2. Neal McKinney followed with a goal to move the Greensboro College advantage to two goals. At the 12:29 mark, Brock Florence netted the Quakers a score with a man down, before Crawford Prezioso completed third period scoring with a 5-3 lead for The Pride.
Guilford kicked off scoring with a Carl Simon goal on a pass from Bochenek at the 6:50 mark of the first period. Nick Patrone answered with a goal for The Pride, knotting the game just 36 seconds later.
Tyler Zivic gave the Quakers the lead again, netting a goal at the 12:52 mark of the second frame, following an assist from Bochenek. Greensboro College countered with a man-up goal by Neal McKinney for the final goal of the first half, tying the game at 2-2.
The first half was marred by seven penalties for the Quakers. Greensboro, however, took 27 shots in the first half. Quaker netminder Vigne stopped 17 shots by the break.
