Washington and Lee Overpowers Guilford, 86-61

Greensboro, N.C. (2/12/08) -- Senior forward Amanda Kane scored a game-high 26 points and grabbed eight rebounds in Washington and Lee University's 86-61 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) win over host Guilford College Tuesday night in the Ragan-Brown Field House.

The game was closely contested in the first 10 minutes with Guilford (10-12, 5-12 ODAC) holding onto a 15-14 lead with under 11 minutes to go in the first half. However over the period's final 10:46, the Generals (8-13, 7-9 ODAC) outscored the Quakers, 34-13, to build a 48-28 halftime lead. Washington and Lee shot a blistering 63.3 percent in the first half, including 7-for-9 from beyond the arc. Guilford was held to 36.4% and only 1-of-5 shots from three-point range in the first half.

Bethany Ridenhour and Felice Herman joined Kane as Washington and Lee's double-digit scorers with 18 and 14 points, respectively. Kristen Krouchick added nine points and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds. The Generals enjoyed a 45-36 rebounding advantage over the Quakers.

Tracey Croner led Guilford with 16 points as four different Quakers scored in double figures. Junior Jessica Casto chipped in 14 points, while rookies Lauren LeFevers and Destiny Carden each scored 11 points off the bench in the loss. LeFevers grabbed a team- and career-high eight rebounds.

The Quakers host Roanoke College Saturday (2/16) in a 1:00 p.m. league matchup. Washington and Lee hosts Eastern Mennonite University Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
