Box Score Greensboro, N.C. (2/16/08) - Caitlyn Long scored 17 points and added a game-high 10 boards in Roanoke College's 70-56 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's basketball win at Guilford College Saturday afternoon. The win gives the Maroons (13-9, 11-6 ODAC) a sweep of the season series with Guilford (10-13, 5-13 ODAC).
Roanoke ended the first half on a 10-4 run to open a 37-31 lead after a tightly played first half. Long scored 10 points in the opening period for Roanoke.
Guilford pulled to within four points with 8:33 left on a Brittany Bumgarner basket, but Roanoke answered with a 10-0 run that put the game out of reach. Erin Hanson made six free throws and added an assist during the run. She made all 10 of her shots from the foul line and finished with 15 points, nine rebounds and three assists.
The Maroons enjoyed a 48-32 rebounding advantage and had 15 offensive boards that led to 12 points.
Ann Seufer drained five three-pointers and scored a game-high 19 points for the Quakers. Tracey Croner and Lauren LeFevers added 10 points apiece.
Guilford returns to action Tuesday in its home finale against Emory & Henry College. The contest may determine a spot in the eight-team ODAC Tournament Feb. 28-Mar. 1.
