Quakers Hold Off Randolph Rally for 72-64 Win

LYNCHBURG, Va. (1-12-09) - Guilford College held off a late rally for a 72-64 Old Dominion Athletic Conference women's basketball win at Randolph College Tuesday night.

The host Wildcats (1-9, 1-7 ODAC) trimmed a 12-point second-half deficit down to one on Michelle Brockman's layup with 1:12 remaining in regulation. Following a timeout, Guilford's Lauren LeFevers knocked down a three-pointer to give the Quakers a 66-62 edge with 50 seconds left. Randolph turned the ball over on its ensuing possession and was forced to foul. Guilford's Jessica Casto drained four free throws and Ann Seufer added two in the final 32 seconds to secure the victory.

Guilford (6-7, 5-3 ODAC) freshman Alexandria Miles led five Quakers in double-figure scoring with 12 points and added a team-best seven rebounds. Seufer and Tracey Croner both scored 11 points apiece. Jasmine Wood and Alexa Williams both added 11 points apiece off the bench. LeFevers finished with eight points, all in the second half. Guilford made 20 of 23 free throws, a season high, and turned the ball over a season-low 12 times

Lindsay Cross scored 10 of her game-high 17 points in the second half. Brockman finished with a double-double on 15 points and a game-high 13 rebounds. The Wildcats outrebounded Guilford, 41-33, thanks to a 25-15 edge on the glass in the second half.

Guilford returns to action Friday (1/16) night at ODAC-rival Randolph-Macon College at 7:00 p.m. The Wildcats play Friday night at Lynchburg College.
