Box Score SALEM, Va. (1/23/09) – Jordan Gholson tallied 16 points, 10 rebounds and six blocked shots to lead Roanoke College a 72-58 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's basketball win over Guilford College Saturday.
The win marked the Maroons' (13-2, 10-1 ODAC) fifth straight win and completed the sweep of the season series with the Quakers (9-8, 6-6 ODAC).
Roanoke never trailed in the contest and opened a 28-20 halftime lead. Guilford's Ann Seufer hit a three-pointer to make it a 48-44 game midway through the second half, but the Maroons answered with a 12-2 spurt over the next 3:20 to open a 14-point spread. The Quakers drew no closer than seven points the rest of the way and the Maroons sealed the win by making all six free-throws in the final three minutes.
Guilford's Alexa Williams led all scorers with 20 points and added three steals. Seufer finished with 14 points for the Quakers.
Caitlyn Long led three Maroons in double-figure scoring with 18 points. Rebecca Bays scored 11 points and had four assists. Roanoke converted 21 Guilford turnovers into 25 points.
The Quakers visit Washington and Lee University Friday (1/29) in a 7:00 p.m. ODAC game.
