Washington and Lee Tops Guilford, 3-0, in Straight Sets

LEXINGTON, Va.-- The Washington and Lee volleyball team continued its strong play of late with a 3-0 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) sweep of Guilford on Thursday night at the Warner Center.

The Generals (12-10, 6-2 ODAC) notched their fifth-straight 3-0 sweep as they dispatched Guilford (7-13, 1-6 ODAC), 25-12, 25-15, 25-18.

W&L received 12 kills from senior outside hitter Rachael Phillips and eight kills from junior middle blocker Louise Brooks in the win.

Sophomore middle blocker Lindsey Dee in seven kills and notched a team-high five blocks. Senior setters Kristi Stevens and Megan Steinhardt added 14 and 13 assists, respectively.

First-year libero Cameron Hill and junior defensive specialist Summer Goldberg each posted a team-high 10 digs.

Guilford's Emma Gunn paced the Quakers with three kills and three blocks. Mary Moody and Laura Kopald also had three kills apiece. Kate Dailey had seven assists and teammate Bethany Hawks made 10 digs. The shorthanded Quakers played without leading hitter Brittany Freeman and starting setter Taylor Phillips.

Guilford plays a nonconference tri-match with Methodist University at Salem College Saturday (10/17) beginning at 10:00 a,m. W&L returns to action on Saturday as it hosts both Christopher Newport and Roanoke, with the first match slated to start at 11:00 am.
