Box Score Greensboro, N.C.-- Guilford downed visiting Eastern Mennonite, 3-0, Saturday afternoon in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) match. Mary Moody paced the Quakers with 16 kills (career-high .448 hitting percentage) and 10 digs. After two tightly contested sets (25-21, 25-18) the Quakers exploded in the third set overpowering the Royals 25-4.
The Quakers' (11-13, 3-6 ODAC) fourth straight win kept them alive in a bid for the eight-team ODAC Tournament Nov. 6-7 with one conference match remaining. Eastern Mennonite falls to 10-17 (3-6 ODAC) with the loss.
Emma Gunn topped her career-high hitting .615 (Guilford's highest this season) in the match with no errors and eight kills in 13 attempts. Brittany Freeman served up a career-high six aces, another team season high, and added five kills. Taylor Phillips set up a match-high 34 assists and had four digs. Bethany Hawks' 12 digs led the Quakers.
Eastern Mennonite's Tabitha Bowman had seven kills on .294 hitting. Karla Martin picked a match-high 13 digs. Christine Bottles totaled 19 assists and seven digs.
The Quakers are back in action Tuesday (10/27) when they host ODAC-rival Emory & Henry College at 6:30 p.m. in the Ragan-Brown Field House.
