Guilford Falls to Washington and Lee, 2-0, in ODAC Quarterfinals

LEXINGTON, Va. (10/31/09) -- Second-seeded Washington and Lee University scored twice in the second half to claim a 2-0 victory over number-seven Guilford College in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament quarterfinal women's soccer match Saturday.  

The Generals (15-1-2), ranked fourth in this week's adidas/National Soccer Coaches' Association of America (NSCAA) Division III South Atlantic Poll, advance to the semifinals to play Lynchburg College in Wednesday's (11/4) semifinal round.  

Guilford's season ends with a 7-12-1 overall record.  

After a scoreless first half, the Generals struck 37 seconds in to the second period when rookie Hannah Sackfield set up classmate Ainsley Daigle's eighth goal of the season. Washington and Lee added an insurance goal in the 76th minute when Allie Espina notched her team-leading 11th tally off an Anne Masich assist.  

Emily Leary made just one save in goal for the shutout as the Generals enjoyed a 21-1 edge in shots. Kat Adams made seven saves in goal for the Quakers.
