Box Score EMORY, Va. (11/30/09) -- Baylie Snyder scored a game-high 17 points and Alex Lyons added 15 to lead Emory & Henry College to a 65-61 Old Dominion Athletic Conference basketball victory over visiting Guilford College Monday night.
The Quakers (2-3, 0-2 ODAC) trimmed a 10-point second-half deficit down to two points with 1:51 left in regulation, but could draw no closer. The Wasps (1-2, 1-0 ODAC) made seven free throws in the final 1:28 to preserve their first victory of the season and the first under rookie head coach Steven Kenner. Guilford's Ann Seufer converted a traditional three-point play with 12 seconds left to make it a 62-60 game, but Sarah Petty later iced the win with three free throws.
Petty finished with 13 points and three assists for Emory & Henry.
Alexandria Miles and Alexa Williams both tallied double-doubles for the Quakers. Miles hit for 13 points and grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds. Williams added 13 points and 14 boards in the setback. Seufer chipped in 12 points for Guilford, but shot 0-for-10 from three-point land.
Guilford returns to action Wednesday (12/2) against visiting ODAC-rival Washington and Lee University in the Quakers' Ragan-Brown Field House at 7:00 p.m.
