GREENSBORO, N.C. (4/4/09) - Guilford College swept an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) doubleheader from visiting Emory & Henry College Saturday afternoon, 1-0 and 11-4. The victories extended Guilford's winning streak to six games.

Freshman Jessica Burcham fanned 12 in a complete-game no-hitter, the first in Guilford's sortball history. She missed her own school record for strikeouts in a game by one. The Quakers (17-9, 5-3 ODAC) scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning on Julie Langseth's two-out, RBI single up the middle to score Charissa Duncan, who led off the inning with a walk. Emory & Henry's Stephanie Cartwright, Megan Evans and Sam Baker (0-6) combined to hold the Quakers to two hits.

The Wasps (3-19, 0-10 ODAC) jumped on Guilford starter Samantha Golley for four runs in the first inning to take a 4-0 lead. Dana Dettmar had an RBI double and Laken Price and Samantha Hammer added run-scoring hits before chasing Golley. Samantha Horner drew a bases-loaded walk off of reliever Taryn Pulvermuller before the Quakers got out of the inning.

Guilford pulled to within a run with three runs off of Evans in the third and broke the game opened with eight runs in the fifth. Langseth and Kelly Hale worked one-out walks and advanced on a wild pitch by Cartwright (2-6) before Jordan Sanford tied the game with an RBI pinch single to left. Courtney Kozar's bunt single loaded the bases for Kelly Guarnieri, who blooped a ball into center field to score the go-ahead run. Pulvermuller delivered a two-run double later in the inning as Guilford sent 12 batters to the plate.

Burcham replaced Pulervmuller in the top of the sixth and finished the game with two perfect innings.

Pulvermuller improved to 3-1 with the win and went 2-2 at the plate with two doubles and two RBI. Keys was 3-4 with an RBI and Guarnieri added two hits.
