Box Score Greensboro, N.C. (1/19/10) -- Jazlyn Gibbs shared the game-high with 18 points to lead the Guilford to a 58-53 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) victory over visiting Emory & Henry College Tuesday night.
The Quakers (9-7, 6-5 ODAC) snapped a two-game losing streak with a strong second half after the Wasps (5-8, 4-5 ODAC) held Guilford to 22.6 percent field-goal shooting in the first stanza.
The first half was a defensive struggle which saw both teams knotted at 19 apiece at the intermission.
Guilford started quickly in the second half behind a full-court pressure defense that forced 11 turnovers over a seven-minute span and resulted in a 15-7 Quakers run. Brittany Atwater scored all 12 of her points and in the second half, many of them on fast breaks. Joining Atwater was Lauren LeFevers 10 points and Alexandria Miles' 10 rebounds. Guilford had 19 steals and forced 31 Emory & Henry turnovers, which led to 18 Guilford points.
Sarah Petty lead the way for the Wasps with 18 points and was joined by Alex Lyons who notched a double-double of 12 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.
Guilford returns to action Saturday (1/23) traveling to ODAC-rival Roanoke for a 2:00 p.m. The Maroons defeated the Quakers 55-48 earlier this year. Click here to follow the audio broadcast from the contest.
