Box Score Greensboro, N.C. (12/3/10) -- Guilford overcame a slow start to rally for a 70-63 home victory over Methodist University Friday night.
Methodist (2-5) jumped out to a 13-point first-half lead before the Quakers recovered thanks in part to 10 of Jazlyn Gibbs (left) game-high 21 points. The Monarchs held a 30-28 halftime advantage before the first of Lauren LeFevers' four second-half three-pointers sparked a 12-5 run that opened a six-point lead Guilford never relinquished.
LeFevers scored 12 of her 18 points in the second half and made six of 10 three-pointers. Freshman Gabby Oglesby contributed 13 points and seven rebounds off the bench for Guilford. Teammate Morgan King added eight points and seven boards for Guilford.
Emily Huneycutt and Dawn Sanderson led the Monarchs with 17 and 16 points respectively. Jackie Lyles grabbed a game-high nine rebounds for Methodist. Iesha Hayes had nine points, eight rebounds and seven assists.
The Quakers are back in action Tuesday evening (12/7at Old Dominion Athletic Conference-rival Roanoke College at 7:00 p.m.
