GREENSBORO, N.C. (2/24/10) -- Brad Gesser's three goals and three assists helped visiting Greensboro College to a 17-9 men's lacrosse victory over Guilford College on a wet and frigid Wednesday night.

Gesser scored twice in the first quarter, including one of the Pride's four man-up goals, which sparked the visitors to a 4-2 lead after one period. John Anglin, Nick Patrone and Bryan Mercer tallied in the second quarter to give Greensboro a 7-2 halftime lead.

The Quakers (0-2) made it a 9-5 game with an early third-quarter flurry capped by a man-up goal by Jake Beneke. After trading scores, Greensboro closed out the quarter by scoring four times in the final 3:29, including a rare man-up own goal with 46 seconds left in the period. The Pride's Brian Kirschner netted all three of his scores in the third quarter.

Anglin and Patrone also scored three times for Greensboro, which had seven different goal scorers. The Pride enjoyed a 49-31 edge in shots and picked up 47 ground balls to the Quakers' 31.

Guilford's Beneke scored a career-high five points on two goals and three assists. Daniel Dowd, Greg Nash and Chris Sisk also scored twice for the Quakers. Junior goalie Mark Guillen made a game- and career-high 18 saves in goal.
