Men's Lacrosse Team Downs Randolph in 2010 Finale

Greensboro, N.C. (4/24/10) -- Daniel Dowd scored four goals and Jake Beneke added a goal and four assists to help Guilford College's lacrosse team past visiting Randolph College, 15-4, Saturday.

The Quakers finished the 2010 season with a 3-13 overall record, 1-6 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC). The Wildcats wrap up their initial season as ODAC members with an 0-13 mark (0-7 ODAC).

Guilford scored the game's first eight goals and enjoyed an 8-2 halftime advantage. Chris Ashcraft and Greg Nash both scored twice in the opening half and Beneke notched three of his career-high four assists.

Guilford netted the first six goals of the second half, including three by Dowd, which opened a 14-2 fourth-quarter edge. The sophomore attackman scored two of Guilford's three man-up goals in the contest.

Chris Sisk (3 goals, 1 assist) and Nash (2 goals, 2 assists) both finished with four points for the Quakers. Defenseman Tyler Zivic, Guilford's lone senior, was honored before the match and later scored his second goal of the year. He also caused a turnover and picked up five ground balls in the game. Goalie Mark Guillen made 13 saves and shared game-high honors with six ground balls. Quakers' defenseman James Stegeman also made six pickups.

Stephen Allman scored three times to lead Randolph. Teammate T.J. Story won seven face-offs and scooped up five ground balls. Kevin McCracken made 17 saves in goal.
