Box Score LYNCHBURG, Va. (4/24/10) -- The Lynchburg College women's lacrosse team rolled to a 21-7 victory over Guilford College in the quarterfinals of the ODAC Tournament to advance to the semi-finals at Roanoke College on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
LC scored eight of the first nine goals and led 15-4 at the half en route to the easy victory. Lesley Buckingham found the back of the net five times and assisted on one goal while Lindsay Gengras tallied three goals and one assist. Julie Will posted a hat trick while both Morgan Logue and Kathryn Ollice each totaled two scores and one helper while Logue tacked on six draw controls. Patty Sheahan had one goal and two assists, Meredith Stuart provided two goals, and Kendal Adkin contributed a goal and an assist. Christina Tran notched 10 saves and seven groundballs in the net.
Carrie Ernst led the Quakers with two goals, Hannah Merrell posted one score and two assists, and Ellie Merritt found the back of the net once along with two helpers. The Hornets outshot the Quakers 36-20, outgained them in groundballs 22-18, and posted a draw control advantage of 18-12. Lynchurg was successful on 14 of 16 clear attempts compared to just 8 of 16 for Guilford. The Hornets were also 6-12 on free position attempts compared to just 0-3 for Guilford, and GC committed 36 fouls to just 19 for LC.
The Hornets look to advance to the ODAC Championship as they face Roanoke College in the semifinals of the ODAC Tournament on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Salem, Va.
