Box Score 4 DANVILLE, Va. (9/5/10) -- Guilford College's volleyball team posted 3-1 victories over Averett University and Emory & Henry College Sunday on the final day of Averett's Cougar Classic. The Quakers went 3-1 in the weekend tournament and improved their overall record this year to 4-1, matching the team's best start since 1996.

Guilford also ended long losing streaks to three weekend opponents. Saturday's 3-1 victory over Roanoke College stopped the Maroons' 13-game winning streak in the season series that dated to 1997. Sunday's triumph over Emory & Henry halted an 11-game slide to the Wasps that reached back to 1998 and the win over Averett stopped a six-match skid dating to 2002.
In Sunday morning's 20-25, 25-17, 25-23, 25-16 win over Averett, sophomore Brittany Freeman paced the Quakers' hitters with 13 kills. Teammate Traci Teague added nine putaways on .258 hitting. Mary Moody picked up a club-high 17 digs and Taylor Whitley had a team-best 20 assists.
Teague hit .344 with a team-high 10 kills in Guilford's 25-22, 26-24, 18-25, 25-12 victory over Emory & Henry College. Rookie Malikah French added nine kills and Courtney Campbell had a team-best 19 digs.
The Quakers are back in action Tuesday (9/7) when they host Ferrum College at 6:30 p.m.
