Box Score

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Josh Pittman scored a game-high 26 points and knocked down seven three-pointers in Guilford College's 97-76 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) basketball win at Bridgewater College Wednesday night.

The victory avenged Bridgewater's 71-54 triumph over the Quakers (10-5, 4-2 ODAC) in the season's first meeting Dec. 3 in Greensboro. It also sent the Eagles (4-10, 1-4 ODAC) to their eighth straight setback.

Pittman made seven of 10 three-pointers, one shy of his career best, in one of Guilford's best offensive efforts of the season. The Quakers scored 97 points on 16-of-30 three-point shooting, all season highs. The team's 16 trifectas stand second in school history and came nearly 10 years to the day after setting the standard with 17 versus Roanoke Bible College Jan. 21, 2002.

With the contest tied at 16-16 midway through the first half, the Quakers' shooters caught fire and knocked down nine three-pointers in the last 10 minutes of the period. Pittman had five treys and 17 points at the break. Guilford was 11-for-17 from beyond the arc in the first half, which opened a 54-38 halftime advantage.

Guilford freshman Matt McCarthy made five-of-eight three-pointers and totaled 15 points and six boards off the bench, both career highs. Teammate Gabriel Lowder added 14 points and four three-pointers. Rookie Will Freeman led Guilford's inside game with 15 points off the bench on seven-for-12 shooting from the field.

The Quakers dominated the glass and owned a 49-28 edge in rebounds. Guilford collected 23 offensive boards, which led to 27 second-chance points, compared to the Eagles' nine. Freeman and McCarthy helped the Guilford bench outscored its counterparts, 48-36.

Ed Reddick's 21 points off the bench led four Eagles in double-figure scoring. Cody Griffith netted 14 for Bridgewater and Aaron Adams had 13 points and a team-high six boards.

Guilford hosts league-rival Eastern Mennonite University Saturday (1/14) at 3:00 p.m.
