Box Score GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Freshman Andrew David threw a complete-game, three-hit shutout in Tufts University's 4-0 win at Guilford College Monday afternoon.
David, making his first college start, was not fazed by the cold, wet and dreary conditions at McBane Field. He did not walk a batter, fanned seven and faced 30 hitters, just three over the minimum.
Matthew Luciani's two-run double in the second opened the game's scoring and keyed the Jumbos' (4-0) three-run inning. Tom Howard's RBI groundout plated the inning's third run and Max Freccia tacked on an RBI single in the sixth.
Aside from the three-run second, Guilford starter Dylan Clark (1-1) pitched well. He fanned a career-high six in six innings.
Tom Egan had two of Tufts' nine hits. Corey Wallace had two of the Quakers' hits.
Guilford (9-11) returns to action Tuesday (3/19) versus visiting Lynchburg College at 4:00 p.m.
