Box Score EMORY, Va.---Lauren Ramsey scored a career-high 20 points as Guilford College held off a late Emory & Henry College rally to earn a Thursday evening Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) victory, 73-71.
Emory & Henry held an advantage early, with their largest lead being capped at 10 points past the mid-way point of the first half. The Quakers (15-9, 9-6 ODAC) closed the deficit to one before going into the locker room down five. A Guilford 11-0 run over a 3:31 stretch early in the second half propelled the Quakers to the lead as they marched towards their largest lead (nine points), taking place with 10:44 left in the second half. The Wasps would close the deficit into a two-possession advantage in the final minute thanks to a quick 5-0 run, but the Quakers defense held Emory & Henry on the final shot at the buzzer to claim the win.
Ramsey's career-best effort offensively came thanks to 8-of-12 shooting and 4-of-6 shooting from the foul line. The freshman added four rebounds, three on the offensive glass, and three assists.
Anais Weatherly added 18 points, seven rebounds, and three assists. Miranda Martin and Heaven Walters added 10 points a piece off the bench to power the Quakers' reserves. Kali Cuttaia led all players on the glass, amassing 13 rebounds.
The Wasps boasted four players in double-figure scoring, led by Tamara Brewster's 16 points with seven rebounds on 6-of-13 shooting. Megan Jacoby and Chloe Harris each added 13 points a piece with Jacoby also totaling six assists. Karina Farr added 12 points and eight rebounds.
Guilford shot 46.3 percent including 48.6 percent second-half shooting. Emory & Henry shot 43.3 percent from the field after shooting 48.3 percent in the second half. The Wasps shot 15-of-16 (93.8 percent) from the foul line compared to the Quakers' 7-of-13 (53.8 percent).
The Quakers out-rebounded the Wasps, 45-30, on the power of 20 offensive rebounds compared to 10 offensive boards for the Wasps. Guilford held the advantage in second chance points, 24-8. Emory & Henry held the edge in points off turnovers, 16-13, with the Quakers committing 15 turnovers and the Wasps committing 10.
The Quakers close out the regular season Saturday, hosting Lynchburg College for a 2 p.m. ODAC contest on Senior Day inside Ragan-Brown Field House.
