Guilford Levels Record With 7-5 ODAC Road Win at Bridgewater

Box Score

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Adam Fiore scored three goals, including a key insurance tally late in the game, in Guilford College's 7-5 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) lacrosse victory at Bridgewater College Saturday.

The Quakers (6-6, 2-3 ODAC) built a 5-1 halftime lead on the strength of two Fiore scores, but the Eagles rallied to within 6-5 by scoring the fourth quarter's first three goals. Blake Mann tallied twice in the spurt and his goal off a Derrick Daniels assist with 7:57 left drew the hosts to within 6-5.

The Eagles (6-6, 1-4 ODAC) won the ensuing face-off and got off three shots, including a Daniels blast stopped by Guilford goalie Parker Styles. The Quakers quickly cleared, which led to Fiore's third goal of the day, which came off a Zachary Berkowitz assist.

The teams traded possession for the rest of the game, but combined for only one shot, taken by the Quakers' Dylan Haupt with 3:18 to go.

Guilford's Daniel Haupt scored two goals and an assist. Berkowitz added a goal to his helper. The Quakers' Connor Manning won eight-of-14 face-offs and picked up five ground balls. Dylan Haupt also had five pickups, which helped the Quakers to a 31-25 edge in ground balls for the game. Sophomore Parker Styles stopped 13 shots, nine in the first half, and picked up two ground balls.

Mann's two fourth-quarter goals paced the Eagles' offense. Daniels had two assists and four ground balls. Andrew Buss stopped 13 shots and also had four ground balls.

Coach Tom Carmeans' Quakers host Hampden-Sydney College Wednesday (4/13) at 4:30 in another ODAC game.
