The beginning of the contest was close, seeing several ties in the early goings, but the visitors were able to force a Guilford timeout as they lead 16-11 after a pair of three-point runs. Guilford was able to post a few points, but was forced to take another timeout after going down 22-15. The visiting Maroon claimed the set 25-15 on an assisted block.

Set two started off with a sense of urgency by Guilford, as it was able to open up a 3-1 lead. GC led through the early points, but Roanoke snuck up to take over. The pair traded back and forth, before RC posted four-straight to force a GC timeout, 13-11. The Quakers were able to find their energy, posting very loud 16, 17 and 18th points to force a Maroon timeout, 18-15. Guilford was able to claim a 25-21 victory despite a Roanoke attempt at a rally.

The third stanza was mostly GC, as the hosts were able to open a 8-3, thanks in part to a Sydney Hopewell service ace. Roanoke answered with three straight points to push Guilford into a timeout. The Quakers rallied, putting together many good plays, including a clean up play, where they were able to pull it together despite some errors to claim the point, 12-8. The Ragan-Brown Field House was rocking as Guilford continued to put up big blocks, most notably an assisted block by Adison Needham and Faith Fennell to go up 13-10. The set point was given to GC on a Roanoke service error, 25-21.

Guilford posted six-straight points to open the fourth set, but saw Roanoke battle back, out scoring it 8-1, to force a GC timeout. They continued to score, extending their lead to 12 before the Quakers would respond. The pair traded points throughout, but Roanoke short kills helped to put away the contest, 25-21, despite a rally by the hosts to push a fifth set.

Winning the coin toss, Roanoke elected to receive the ball first, a call that benefitted them greatly as it opened a quick 4-0 lead, making Guilford use a timeout. The visitors continued to score, but were halted by a Kaitlyn Kelley kill to make it 6-1. GC also added points by Cydney Scott and Lydia Saunders. A perfect matchup, the two continued to trade points, each using a timeout in the lat goings. The last tie of the contest was at 12-12, but the Maroon went up and never looked back, winning 15-12 to claim the match.
