HOW IT HAPPENED

The hosts helped the Quakers to a quick 3-0 lead, handing them points on a trio of errors. Guilford's first kill came from Kaitlyn Kelly, setting the score 4-2. Despite the Wildcats trailing by one point late in the contest, 18-17, the Quakers were able to put the set away on a Vanessa Johnson kill.

Set two started off with Guilford scoring the first point again off a kill by Faith Fennel. The pair traded points back and forth as the score was knotted late into the contest, 16-16. GC was able to turn it up a notch to claim the set 25-23.

The Quakers built a nice 7-0 lead to open the third frame on kills from Kelley, Fennell and Cydney Scott, a service ace from Lydia Saunders. Despite leading for the majority of the set, Randolph was able to creep back within striking distance, thanks in part to three four-plus point streaks. The Wildcats took control of the set after a 23-23 tie to claim a 25-23 win of its own.

Set four started off like those before it, as Guilford grabbed a 4-0 lead, but it dropped four straight points to see a 4-4 tie. GC responded with a six point run to set itself apart. The Quakers gapped out to put the contest away with a 25-17 set win, thanks to a Scott kill.
