GREENSBORO, NC. -- The Guilford College women's basketball team were able to take down Randolph College Wednesday evening, falling by a score of 64-55. With this win, Randolph is atop the conference, owning a 6-1 overall record, 2-0 in conference.

HOW IT HAPPENED

A super fast affair, the contest was exciting from the jump as the visitors posted a three to open, which was answered by a pair of made free throws from Lindsay Gauldin.

Playing great defense, Guilford was able to go neck and neck with the Wildcats. The opposition was able to maintain its advantage, closing out the quarter with a 16-13 lead.

Opening the second half, the score remained the same for nearly three minutes, but was updated as J'La Hinson put up a layup to bring GC within one, 16-15.

Trading blows, Guilford took the lead at 6:38, off an and-1 by Carleigh Perry to make it 16-18.

Despite the switch in momentum, Randolph was able to remain close and take over before time wound down in the first half, owning a 34-24 lead heading into the break.

Guilford went on a seven point run to open the third stanza on layups from Hinson, Perry and a three-pointer from Gauldin.

After battling in close, the Quakes only trailed by six heading into the final frame, 49-43.

Despite GC's best efforts, its success from the third quarter did not carry over as Randolph was able to come away with a 64-55.

Leading her team in scoring was Lindsay Gauldin who put up 25 points, grabbed four rebounds, and had four assists.

Second in points, Carleigh Perry put up 10.

J'la Hinson tallied nine rebounds, eight defensive and one offensive.

Second in rebounds, Abby Kennedy had a mark of five.

Guilford will return to action on Saturday as it travels to Washington and Lee for a 4:30 p.m. meeting.
