Greensboro, NC -- Guilford College volleyball team went toe-to-toe with Methodist University as the Monarchs came away with a 3-0 win.

THE BASICS

• Score: 3-0 ((25-23, 25-17, 25-11)

HOW IT HAPPENED 

The Quakers led the majority of the first set, but the Monarchs crept up quietly. The score was knotted many times in the late goings of the stanza, with neither team having a comfortable advantage. It truly was a two-point set, with Methodist coming out on top, 25-23.

Set two started off rocky, as the visitors opened a quick 4-0 lead, before a Cam Blankenship kill was able to slow momentum, but only temporarily. MU quickly pulled away, claiming the set 25-11.

The final set went quickly, as both teams dealt blows. GC went up 3-0 to start, but the opposition battled back to a 5-5 tie not long after. It took no time for Methodist to take over. Despite Guilford's best attempts, they were unable to rope them back in, giving up a 25-17 third set. 

QUAKERS TOP PERFORMERS

• Devyn Norman posted 10 kills and three digs.

• Cam Blankenship put up eight kills, seven digs and one service ace.

• Avery Lemons went down for a team-best 13 digs.

• Vanessa Johnson had two block assists.

• Kaitlyn Kelley had one block solo and one block assist.
