The Guilford College women's soccer team made the trip to Ferrum College to face the Panthers in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference matchup. An early goal led the way to the Quakers first conference win, 3-0.
Right from the start both goalkeepers were tested as both teams combined for nine shots in the first 10 minutes with three on goal by the Quakers.
Late in the 18th minute, Guilford's persistence paid off as
Sarah Hall found the back of the net for the opening goal.
Madison Green picked up an assist on the score. Both teams kept up their pace as the Quakers led 1-0 at the half.
Both squads continued in the second half but it was Guilford once again scoring, this time off the foot of
Baylee Greenwood with an assist from
Jenna Shotton.
In the 86th minute,
Crystal Rivas sealed the victory with a goal to secure the three-goal victory.
In goal,
Ady Franken saved all 10 shots she faced on the evening. The Quakers held the advantage in shots (26-20) and shots on goal (11-10).
Guilford (7-2-1, 1-2-0) returns to Armfield Athletic Center on Saturday, October 8 for a Homecoming match with Shenandoah University. First kick is set for 10 a.m.
