The Guilford College women's soccer team faced Virginia Wesleyan University in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Quarterfinals. The Quakers fell to the Marlins, 1-0.
Virginia Wesleyan held early control of the game and it paid off with a goal just 4:14 into the half. The Marlins kept the pressure on for the remainder of the half but
Ady Franken made four saves to keep the difference at one at the half.
In the second half, the hosts controlled most of the play as they placed 12 more shots on goal but Franken stood tall. Guilford had four shots on goal but none were able to connect as GC fell by the one-goal difference.
VWU held advantage in shots and corner kicks. Franken finished the day with 16 saves in 90 minutes of action.
Guilford ends the 2022 season with a record of 12-5-1, the first 12-win season since 2006 when GC had 13.
