The Guilford College men's basketball team visited Bridgewater College for the first Old Dominion Athletic Conference game of the season. Behind
Tyler Dearman's double-double, the Quakers defeated the Eagles, 58-41.
Dearman led all scorers with 15 points while also grabbing 11 rebounds.
Myles Washington enjoyed an efficient afternoon from the floor, shooting 6-11 for 12 points.
Bridgewater (2-3, 0-1) opened the game with a three-point shot. From there, Guilford (5-2, 1-0) took control of the contest. The Quakers scored 16 unanswered points with six of them coming off the hand of Washington. The Eagles stopped the run and cut the deficit to nine (18-9) with 7:40 on the clock.
From that point forward, GC never surrendered the double-digit advantage and went into the half up 33-18.
In the second half, Guilford expanded the lead to 30 at one point and went on to win by the 17-point margin.
Defensively, the Quakers held BC to 23.5% (12-51) from the field and 22% (6-27) from long distance. GC held the advantage in rebounds (49-34), bench points (28-10) and points off turnovers (18-8).
Guilford returns home to face Randolph College on Wednesday, November 30. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
