The Guilford College men's basketball team hosted Methodist University in their home opener. The Quakers took home a commanding victory, winning 80-59 on the back of Jorden Davis with a 25-point performance.

Guilford trailed early in the game finding themselves down six just over four minutes into the game. From here the Quakers and the Monarchs traded baskets until the 14-minute mark where the Quakers started taking over the game. At this point, GC went on a 10-point run backed by Julius Burch and Davis. 

The Quakers were able to hold off Methodist and keep them to just five points in the final 6:43 of the first half. The score at half was 39-31 Quakers. 

The momentum of the first half continued into the second where the Quakers were able to find themselves up 15 points 6:35 into the half. This run came with three field goals from Davis as well as one block.

Guilford continued to hold and add to the lead having a game-high margin of 24 points with 3:39 seconds left in the game. 

Davis added eight rebounds and three steals while Tyler Dearman dropped 19 points while grabbing nine boards. As a team, Guilford shot 39% (23-59) from the field and made 24 of its 30 free throw attempts.

Guilford travels to Ohio to play in the Marietta Shrine Tournament against La Roche University on Friday, November 11 at 6:00 p.m.
