The Guilford College softball team hit the road to face the 14th-ranked Virginia Wesleyan University Marlins. The Quakers fell to the Marlins in both contests.
Game 1: #14 Va. Wesleyan 8, Guilford 0 (5 Inn.)
Virginia Wesleyan scored the first run of the game on a RBI single to left field. In the bottom of the third, the Marlins added another run on a Guilford error.
Leading 2-0, the hosts added six runs on four hits and three errors. Va. Wesleyan went on to close the game in the fifth inning.
Game 2: #14 Va. Wesleyan 8, Guilford 0 (5 Inn.)
The hosts replicated the start of game one as it scored the first run in the opening frame. In the third, the Marlins scored five runs on three hits including a two-run homer to lead 6-0.
In the fifth, Va. Wesleyan scored two more runs to close out the game and complete the sweep.
Guilford (10-18, 1-7) travels to sixth-ranked Randolph-Macon on Sunday, April 10 for a doubleheader. Game one is set for 1:00 p.m.
