The Guilford College women's soccer team welcomed Randolph-Macon College for the first Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) matchup of the season. The Quakers fell to the Yellow Jackets, 3-0.
Guilford found itself with a prime opportunity just five minutes into the game as
Madison Green found herself with some space. The senior took a shot but as it was bending in, it hit the crossbar and ricochet out of play.
Just four minutes later, Randolph-Macon broke the scoreless tie as Riley Russ bent the ball around
Ady Franken and into the right side of the net. The Yellow Jackets began to control possession and it paid off at the 21-minute mark as Lora Bertram scored from 25 yards out.
Play began to even out between both squads and as halftime approached, Randolph-Macon led 2-0.
In the second half, play was even between the squads. Both teams had opportunities but were unable to capitalize. The Yellow Jackets kept the two-goal until the 80th minute when Russ scored her second of the game. R-MC went on to win by three goals.
Guilford travels to Charlotte, N.C. to face Johnson & Wales on Tuesday, September 27. Start time is set for 7:00 p.m.
