The Guilford College women's soccer team hit the road to face the Bridgewater College Eagles.
Ady Franken had a spectacular day in net to secure a 1-0 road win.
In the first half, Bridgewater had control of the possession. The Eagles totaled 14 shots with six of them on goal. Franken stopped each one of the shots faced and kept the game level at zero going into the half.
Early in the second, Franken was tested again but stood tall and made the stop. In the 52nd minute,
Olivia Santos delivered a corner kick into the box. The ball deflected off a defender right to
Baylee Greenwood as she buried the shot to give Guilford the first lead of the game.
For the final 38 minutes, the Quakers put a couple more shots on net but were not successful. On the other end of the field, Franken made six more saves to preserve the shutout and the win.
In total, Franken made 13 saves as the Eagles out shot the Quakers, 13-4. The hosts also held the advantage in corner kicks, 5-3.
Guilford (10-1-1, 3-1) remains on the road on Wednesday, October 11 to face the Roanoke College Maroons. First kick is set for 7:00 p.m.
