Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

GC Wins with Ease in Georgia

The Guilford College women's basketball team was on the road in Decatur, Georgia for a match up against Agnes Scott College. The Quakers bested their opponent, 96-50.

The first score of the game was credited to Guilford's Amara Harrell laying the ball in the net for two points. The first period was close, score-wise, compared to the rest of the game. The Scotties (1-7) trailed closely behind the Quakers (8-2) for the whole quarter, but never able to catch up. Quakers ended ahead, 19-15.

The second period was nothing short of exciting as the Quakers more than tripled their competition, 34-10, concluding the half at 53-25. Credit surely owed to Zoe Bayer and Jermia Walker, each achieved two, three-pointers as well as a good three points to Carleigh Perry

The Quakers did not allow the Scotties to achieve a double-digit score in the third quarter. The first two minutes were quiet for both teams, scoreless until two free throws were made by Anna Giannopoulou. At that moment, Guilford decided to go on a 15-point streak before Agnes Scott made a score. The Quakers led by a significant margin, 73-32.

Going into the final quarter, the Quakers were in a very good position. Agnes Scott played best during this period but it still wasn't good enough to gain any advantage. The Quakers ended 23-18 and overall were victorious, 96-50.

The high scorers of the day were Jermia Walker with 15 points and Ashtyn Zeigler with 14, while Anna Giannopoulou led her team with six rebounds.

Guilford will remain in Georgia for its next match in Mount Barry against Berry College on Saturday, December 30. The game is to begin at 3:00 pm.
