The Guilford College baseball team looked to complete the season sweep of William Peace. The Quaker bats came alive early and often with a 16-5 win.

Guilford scored early when Colin Smith drew a bases loaded walk. Chase Wade followed with a sacrifice fly as Isaiah Hairston tagged up. Allden Horne wrapped up the scoring with an RBI single up to the middle to put the visitors ahead by three.

It took until the bottom of the second for William Peace to get on the board with an RBI single of its own. The Pacers notched another in the third to find themselves down 3-2.

Following a single and an error that moved Horne to third, Collin McGuire brought him home with a ground ball.

Leading 4-2, Guilford added to its total with three runs on three hits in the fifth. The momentum continued for GC as its plated six runs in the sixth to take a commanding 13-3 advantage.

The final three Quaker runs occurred in the seventh with RBI hits from Horne and McGuire. The hosts scored two runs in the eighth but Guilford shut down any chance of a rally to secure the 11-run win.

Horne finished the afternoon with three hits, three RBI and three runs. Jacob Phillips picked up the win, allowing three runs (all earned) on nine hits over five innings.

Guilford returns to McBane Field on Saturday, March 11 for a conference doubleheader with Virginia Wesleyan. First pitch of game one is set for 12:00 p.m.
