VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- Still with a chance to clinch their first ODAC tournament berth in almost a decade, the women's tennis squad needed a result at Virginia Wesleyan to boost their hopes. Unfortunately, those hopes were not sought through, with their overall season ending at the hands of the Marlins, via an 8-1 defeat.
Guilford finishes their 2023-24 season with a 7-10 record, and 3-7 record in conference play. Their seven wins marks the most in a season since 2015-16. Virginia Wesleyan's record jumps to 7-8, and 4-2 in the ODAC, in line for clinching a postseason spot.
Ashley Belnap (Winston-Salem, N.C.) captured the lone win for GC, besting Tuva Fink at no. 1 singles by a 7-6, 6-1 scoreline.
Guilford looks ahead to the next season, returning most of their squad intact into 2024 fall play.
