SALEM, Va. - Guilford's softball team traveled to Moyer Sports Complex to face off against conference foe Roanoke College for their final regular season doubleheader of the year. Hoping for a better outcome, the Quakers fell, 3-1 and 1-0.

Despite today's result, the Quakers have already clinched a spot in the ODAC Tournament from their sweep against EMU on Wednesday. However, today's losses against Roanoke, puts Guilford's record at 18-22, in conference play 10-12. For the Maroons, their record improves to 26-12, 16-6 in conference play.

Shiloh Gray (Lexington, N.C.) threw for all of game one, however, taking the loss, her record falls to 9-6. Upon eight hits, she allowed just three runs, and struck out one.

The first contest started out promising for the Quakers, but ended quite the opposite.
Grace Calus (Creedmoor, N.C.) added one run on the board for Guilford.

In game two,
Taylor Mitchell (St. Albans. Vt.) started on the mound for Guilford. This was the first time she pitched a full game, but she took the loss, her record falling to 1-1.

A low scoring game throughout, the Quakers were not able to make it on the board. The Maroons made one run, which was deemed enough to take another win, 1-0.

GAME 1

The first inning opened with Guilford first on the board. Calus reached second on a two base error by the shortstop. Next,
Kaci Johnson (Winterville, N.C.) singled to right field, resulting in
Calus making it all the way home. Though the run was ruled unearned, the score stood in Guilford's favor 1-0.

The Maroons tagged on one run in the third inning, tying the game. However, in the fifth frame, Roanoke advances two more runs home, taking the lead, and taking the win 3-1.

GAME 2
Â
Guilford struggled in game two, unable to make a single score. Roanoke added one run in the third inning. This being said, the Quakers bested the Maroons in hits, 4-3, but lost overall in runs, 1-0.

Despite the sweep, the Quakers remain in sole possession of sixth place to finish ODAC play. Their projected first game opponent is Roanoke again. Game dates, times, and other information is to be announced by the league offices.
