6LAKE DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Guilford College triathlon team opened their season Sunday morning, competing at the Lake Davidson Sprint Triathlon in Lake Davidson, N.C.
Representing the Quakers wereÂ
Bec Cormack (Forest Park, Ill.),Â
Bess Parnell (Cairo, Egypt), andÂ
Sadie Cyr (Hadley, Mass.). The freshman, Cyr, had the best showing for the Quaker squad, finishing 63 of 85 with a total time of 1:15:24.97. She posted a swim time of 10:42, bike time of 38:37, and run time of 24:27 to cap off her Quaker debut.
Parnell and Cormack held steady with one another, finishing 74
th and 76
th respectively. Parnell completed both the swim and run portion of the event, posting times of 14:41 in swim and 26:57 in the run portion on her way to a 1:32:39.38 total. Cormack completed all three events, posting times of 14:44 in swim, 44:19 on the bike, and 35:33 for her run for an overall mark of 1:36:16.95.
The next outing for the Quakers will be Saturday, October 4
th as they stay home in Greensboro for the Nat Greene Revenge Triathlon Sprint hosted by USA Triathlon. Start time to be determined.
