GREENSBORO, N.C. –The Guilford College football team (1-3, 0-2 ODAC) could not get on track in their Homecoming Saturday afternoon contest against No. 25/RV nationally ranked Hampden-Sydney College (4-0, 2-0 ODAC) at Appenzeller Field in the Armfield Athletic Center, falling 69-14 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action.
For the Quakers,

The Quakers bottlenecked the ODAC's second-leading rusher, Terry Hicks as he gained just 36 yards on 16 carries, but Will Foley all players with 69 yards on just six totes, scoring once. Mason Cunningham had just four receptions, but turned them into 144 yards, finding paydirt three times.

The Tigers outpaced Guilford in both offensive phases, out-rushing GC 197-96 and out-passing the Quakers, 317-157, adding up to a 514-253 disparity in total offensive yards. The hosts held the Tigers to 6-of-13 on third down but managed to go just 4-of-18 themselves while also taking five sacks.
Guilford encountered near-immediate trouble in this one, as on just the second play from scrimmage, Hyatt coughed up a fumble that the Tigers recovered for an instant red zone opportunity. They capitalized on it three plays later as Sido hit Cunningham for a nine-yard score. Following a short GC drive and an H-SC three-and-out, the Quakers got on the move. Utilizing a sustained ground game featuring Woodard and Sullivan, as well as a pair of fourth-down conversions, the second of which was the scoring play with Hyatt hitting Campbell at the hash and fighting through a hit on the catch to break the plain for the equalizing score. Unfortunately, things spiraled from there with Hampden-Sydney taking the ensuing kickoff for a 58-yard return then just four plays later, Cunningham hauled in a Sido pass for his second touchdown grab of the quarter, bringing the tallies to 14-7 after 15 minutes.
The Tigers pilled it on in the second with short drives, turnovers, and a failed fourth-down granting short fields and ample scoring chances and they took advantage with five touchdowns in an eight-minute span, the first four through the air, and the last one on the ground by Hicks as the score ballooned to 48-7 at the half.
H-SC scored again swiftly into the second-half with four big plays spanning 60 yards and Foley finishing the with a 16-yard rush. Guilford finally struck back on their first drive of the frame with DeHart breaking free for a 56-yard catch-and-run. After that, the guests added on an additional TD in each of the final two quarters to bring the final tallies to 69-14.
