Rob Szitas grew up in Pennsylvania and moved to North Carolina in 1986, where he began his career as a teacher and coach at Williams High School in Burlington. He coached men's soccer and implemented Williams' first women's soccer program.

In 2005, he moved to Southwest Guilford High School to continue his teaching and coaching profession.  Many of his former players have competed at the collegiate level. 


During his 35 year tenure, Szitas has achieved over 800 victories. He has also been named Conference Coach of the Year 12 times and Regional Coach of the Year ten times. In 2001, Szitas was selected to coach in the annual East-West All-Star Game. Addtionally to coaching, Szitas was voted Teacher of the Year in 1995 and 2010 by his peers at his respective schools.

Upon retiring in 2021, Rob Szitas was honored to be inducted into the North Carolina Coaches Association's Field of Honor (Hall of Fame).  He resides in Greensboro with his wife, Kathie, and two sons, Sean and Steven.
