Men's Soccer Drops 3-0 Decision at Va. Wesleyan

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (10/24/09) -- Clay Price scored two goals and an assist in Virginia Wesleyan College's 3-0 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) soccer win over visiting Guilford College Saturday night. The Marlins (12-3-2, 7-1-1 ODAC) are ranked seventh in this week's adidas/National Soccer Coaches Association of America South Atlantic Region Poll.  

Price's first goal opened the match's scoring in the seventh minute. Brandon Massie earned an assist on the play, which led to a 1-0 Marlins' halftime lead.  

Guilford goalie Jonathan Shine stopped a Price shot early in the second half, but Trae Pinto collected the rebound and put it home in the 59th minute for a 2-0 Marlins' edge. Price closed the scoring six minutes later.  

Virginia Wesleyan outshot the Quakers, 24-7. .Marlins' goalie Ryan Zmuda made three saves before giving way to Jay Coble late in the match. Shine made nine stops for the Quakers (7-10-1, 2-6 ODAC).  

Guilford closes the regular season Wednesday (10/28) at Emory & Henry College at 7:00 p.m.
