The Guilford College women's basketball team faced the Ferrum College Panthers in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference matchup. The Quakers grasped early control and never looked back in the 68-39 win.
In the opening period, it took until the 8:12 mark for the first points to be scored when
Carleigh Perry made a layup off an
Ashtyn Zeigler pass. Ferrum tied the game little over two minutes later. From there, Guilford rattled off 11-straight points and went on to lead by 11 (15-4) at the end of the first.
In the second, the Quakers expanded their lead by outscoring the opposition by 15 (27-12) and holding a 42-16 edge at the half.
The third and fourth periods were the most tightly contested but Guilford led comfortable and focus on getting time of the bench. GC went on to win by the 29-point advantage.
Lindsay Gauldin and
Anna Giannopoulou led all scorers with 11 points.
J'la Hinson chipped in 10 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals. On the evening, the Quakers shot 41.7% (30-72) from the field and won the rebounding advantage (47-40) and turnover battle (15-27).
Guilford hits the road on Saturday, December 10 as it takes on the Yellow Jackets of Randolph-Macon College. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m.
