The Guilford College women's basketball team hit the road to face the Randolph College WildCats. The Quakers fell on the road, 64-44.
Randolph (17-5, 12-4) opened the scoring with the first five points. Guilford (7-15, 5-12) responded with a three from
Ashtyn Zeigler and a
Lindsay Gauldin layup. Over the final six minutes of the first, the WildCats out scored the Quakers 12-3 and led 17-8 after the first 10 minutes.
The second period was tightly contested between both squads. Randolph slowly grew its lead to 14 before Gauldin scored seven-consecutive points to make the score 32-25. The hosts hit a three to grasp a 10-point edge going into halftime.
The Wildcats took a stronghold on the game in the third as they out scored the Quakers by 12 points (19-7) and led 54-32 going to the fourth.
In the fourth, both teams shared makes but the deficit was too large for Guilford to overcome. Randolph went on to win by the 20-point margin.
Gauldin led the Quakers with 16 points while also grabbing five rebounds.
Caroline Wilkerson and Zeigler each added nine points on the evening.
Guilford will conclude the regular season on Saturday, February 19 at Randolph-Macon. Start time is slated for 4:00 p.m.
