Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Women's Volleyball Sweeps Road Tri-Match

The Guilford College women's volleyball ventured to Lynchburg, Virginia for a tri-match against Randolph College and Mid-Atlantic Christian University. The Quakers swept both the WildCats and the Mustangs, 3-0.

Game 1: Guilford 3, Randolph 0

The opening set was an even bout and the set score displayed this. The two squads went back and forth with each side having a chance to claim the set but were unsuccessful. After Randolph tied the set at 28, Chrisbel Alcantara got a kill before an Amber Chiarolanzio ace locked up the 30-28 set win.

For most of the second set, it seemed like we were headed for another extended set. Following three-straight WildCat points, the Quakers took over as Kaci Johnson registered two kills and then a block by Alcantara and Faith Fennell won the set, 25-22.

Rinse and repeat happened in the third with neither team pulling away. Late in the set, Randolph evened the score at 22 but two of Guilford's final three points came off the hand of Alcantara for the 25-23 set win.

Game 2: Guilford 3, Mid-Atlantic Christian 0

In a a complete opposite style from the first match, Guilford dominated the first set, only allowing nine points.

The Quakers cruised to a second set win, 25-5, with multiple runs of five points or more.

Mid-Atlantic Christian had its best set in the third as it scored 12 points but GC ultimately won the set (25-12) and the match (3-0).

Guilford (16-7, 5-5) travels to the University of Lynchburg on Wednesday, October 25. First serve is set for 6:30 p.m.
