Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Quakers Climb to Victory over Ferrum

The Guilford College women's volleyball team faced off against Ferrum College for their second to last match of the regular season. Ending in a good night for Guilford as after four sets, the Quakers achieved another victory, 3-1.

The first set opened with an initial lead from Ferrum. After exchanging points multiple times, Guilford was able to tie at 16, 19, and again at 21. The Panthers went on a four-point streak, leaving the Quakers to fall 21- 25. However, despite a high hitting percentage from the Panthers, the Quakers only lost by four.

Building steam for the rest of the game, the Quakers were looking to turn things around. Set two was close scoring until GC went on a six-point run, gaining a lead and winning by a significant gap, 25-14. Three of the last five Guilford points came off the hand of Chrisbel Alcantara

As set three began, Ferrum put up a good fight but Guilford was stronger. The teams scored pretty even until tied at 19. Guilford then went on a five-point streak, leading up to the game-point kill by Paige McDonald, 25-21.

Although the fourth set was close, the Quakers stayed ahead for the whole set. Similar to the last, Guilford racked up five points at the very end with the help of Vanessa Johnson, Kaci Johnson, and Natalie Moore leading to a 25-19 win.

Moore finished with 18 kills and 22 digs while Kaci Johnson and Alcantara finished with double-digit kills, 12 and 10, respectively. Maddi Page finished with 54 assists as Madison Bozarth totaled 15 digs.

Guilford finishes the regular season on Friday, November 3 against Carolina University. The match is set to begin at 6:30 p.m. on Senior Day.
