Guilford Pulls Away from Greensboro

The Guilford women's basketball team dominated in an exciting game against neighboring Greensboro College. The Quakers defeated the Pride, 82-48.

Courtney McMillan led the team with an impressive 18 points. McMilian along with teammate Anna Giannopoulou each racked up nine rebounds. 

The first quarter opened with a three-point by Jermia Walker. This momentum continued for the remainder of the period, ending 19-9 in favor of Guilford.

The second began with free throws by Greensboro. Without hesitation, the Quakers tallied up the next 11 points, giving them a massive 17-point lead. As halftime neared, the home side held a 36-21 advantage. 

At the start of the third, Ashtyn Zeigler got an easy three-pointer, again setting the mood for the rest of the quarter. The game was quick paced as McMillan laid one in on a  fastbreak. With a whole seven minutes left in the period, the Quakers achieved a double-digit lead. The period also included a three-pointer from Zoe Bayer with about five minutes left. Greensboro outscored Guilford in the third period, closing it with a 11-2 run, giving a slight boost in their score but still overall falling behind, 52-39. 

The Pride continued with the valiant effort in the fourth, but the Quakers were not backing down for a second. The period opened with a 15-2 run for the Quakers. Guilford scored an impressive 30 points in the fourth en route to the 34-point victory.

Giannopoulou and Ashtyn Zeigler finished with double-digit points, 12 and 10, respectively. As a team, 13 different Quakers scored on the evening. 

Guilford will be on the road in Raleigh for its next game against William Peace University on Thursday, November 30. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m.
